Anime series are easy to binge in just a few sittings, but there’s nothing more enjoyable than watching one with your partner or significant other. Here are our picks for the best romance anime you can watch with your partner.

The Ice Guy and His Cool Female Colleague

I know. The title sounds absolutely silly and frivolous, but I promise you, if you’re into romance anime at all, this is one to keep on your radar. The titular Ice Guy himself, Himuro, is a snow woman descendant, which basically means that he can inadvertently summon snow and mini blizzards around him based on his emotional reactions. It also means that when he’s interacting with his office crush Fuyutsuki, tiny snowman pop out of his body to symbolize his happiness and excitement.

With Season of the Malignant on the horizon, Blizzard has rolled out a new patch for Diablo 4, bringing with it some pretty significant gameplay changes. There a few class balances, new Unique items and Legendary Aspects, and some season rollover progress that you’re gonna wanna know about before Season of the Malignant starts, so let’s get into it.

All Classes Get Nerfed

Really, there aren’t any winners in this latest Diablo 4 patch. In fact, all the classes have taken a hit in some way or another, but we’d be remiss not to give a special shoutout to the Sorcerer, who’s certainly been hit the hardest.

Last season, we saw the release of Conquest mode in Marvel Snap. This is a tournament-style mode where players duke it out with each other, using the same deck, and with 10 points of health. The mode gives you the chance to earn Medals, which can then be used to purchase Credits, Gold, variants, and boosters.

This week, Second Dinner has launched a new event called Conquest Frenzy, which makes it easier for players to rack up Gold Conquest Tickets. Basically, you’ll be able to claim one Gold Ticket per day after winning 10 matches in either Ranked or Conquest. This event will run till July 24, and should make it much easier for players to accrue Gold Tickets, as you won’t need to grind through Proving Grounds or Silver Conquest for them.

Mario Party Superstars

Not to be confused with Super Mario Party, Mario Party Superstars is a remastered collection of the best and most iconic maps from the original Mario Party games. And yeah, they still hold up incredibly well. Maps include Peach’s Birthday Cake and Horror Land, and the mini-games are still fun and challenging in the best possible ways.

Since its release late last month, Dave the Diver has been making waves in the gaming sphere. It’s a mishmash of the most popular game genres: it’s a farming sim with diving elements, complete with a dash of Cooking Mama, Instagram for cooks, and WarioWare-style mini-games where you catch fish and chop them up to serve.

We’re not the only ones who have been utterly obsessed with MintRocket’s latest hit, though; in an article published by The Guardian, Black Mirror creator and lead writer Charlie Brooker revealed his cultural highlights of 2023, and wouldn’t you know it, Dave the Diver’s on his list too.

Everybody 1-2 Switch! on Switch

For a hybrid console that’s meant to make you the life of the party — as those initial Switch ads from back in 2017 would have you believe — it’s quite baffling that Nintendo has decided to put out a painfully mediocre party game in the form of Everybody 1-2 Switch! As someone who’s a bit of a 1-2 Switch apologist, the 2023 follow-up is uninspiring, boring, and even an occasional source of nightmare fuel.

In fact, I had spent all week sitting on the fence, trying to decide if I wanted to purchase Mario Party Superstars for a friendly get-together I was planning for the end of the month. When I was presented with the opportunity to review Everybody 1-2 Switch!, though, I thought, “Alright, maybe this could be a fun party game to play with my friends, and I could save a little bit of money,” and proceeded to boot it up. Long story short: by the end of the first session, I thought, screw it, and instantly purchased Mario Party Superstars instead.

The Spotlight Cache system was announced for Marvel Snap a while back, and we’ll finally see it get implemented in-game this week. Second Dinner has announced via their official Discord server that they’ll be pushing out on a patch on July 12, which should include some major card balances and updates as well.

The new Spotlight Cache system will feature four different cards each week, and when you open the Cache, you have a chance of getting one out of those four cards. The newly released card for that week will always be included. Second Dinner has also announced all cards for the rotation for this season, as listed below:

Diablo 4 is an outstanding game in its own right; the story is actually good, Lilith is a compelling villain, and the gameplay loop is just as addictive as you’d want it to be. Like with most other things in life, though, there’s always room for improvement, so here are some ways Diablo 4 could’ve been even better.

More Innovative Boss Mechanics

While I’m not a huge fan of Lost Ark‘s over-the-top story and vibe overall, there’s just no denying that it brought a lot of fun new things to the ARPG table, including interesting boss mechanics that went beyond just DPS checks. That’s the thing about Diablo 4; most of the bosses, and especially the world bosses, really just feel like DPS checks.

This season of Marvel Snap is an exciting one for a couple of reasons: all of the new card releases are actually exciting and have a ton of potential, and two out of three cards will be releasing directly to Series 4, which means they’ll only cost 3,000 Tokens to purchase. Spider-Ham was the first of these direct-to-Series-4 cards, and he’s just dropped this week, but there’s an issue. If you’ve been hoarding your Collector’s Caches and Reserves and you’re close to opening another Series 4 card, and you’re hoping to pull Spider-Ham from one of these boxes, you’re out of luck.

Second Dinner has since announced on their Discord server that there’s currently an issue preventing Spider-Ham from showing up on the Collection Track. Here’s the full statement:

Ever since its global launch, Second Dinner has started releasing various cosmetics and cards bundles in Marvel Snap. Most of these bundles are generally pretty good value, allowing you to get a bunch of Tokens, Gold, Credits, and sometimes cool new variants to add to your collection. There have been pricier bundles as well, but generally, these bundles also offered decent value, such as the Flaviano Collector package, which offered a whole ton of Tokens to help you nab whatever card you wanted in the Spotlight shop.

However, the latest bundle featuring Darkhawk has drawn a ton of ire from the player base. Right now, the Darkhawk bundle comes with a new variant, an avatar, 310 boosters, and 1,000 Credits. Priced at $29.99, this bundle has also been advertised with a small banner that states “3x value”, when in actuality, this is one of the worst deals we’ve seen in Marvel Snap so far.

Marvel Snap gets a lot of things right. The frictionless deck-building, the gorgeous 3D animations and art, the fast-paced, snappy matches that you can knock out in five minutes or less… Marvel Snap stands out from the competition because of how quickly you can get through a match, making it the perfect pick up and play game, while also retaining a sense of depth that’s crucial for its longevity.

Enter Conquest Mode, which is Marvel Snap’s brand new game mode that allows players to battle each other, tournament-style, to earn new cosmetic rewards and farm Medals, which can be used to purchase more rewards and currencies. Conquest Mode is based off the previously released Battle Mode, which were friendly battles that locked you into one deck, and you had to continuously battle the same opponent with the same deck until your health was depleted.

It’s been a big year for The Last of Us. With two successful and critically acclaimed games under its belt, the franchise went on to get a TV series adaptation which aired on HBO earlier this year. That also proved to be a huge hit, with largely positive ratings and a quick renewal for season 2. If you can’t quite get enough of The Last of Us, though, Halloween Horror Nights has just announced that it’ll be getting its own Halloween-themed attraction at Universal Studios Florida this year.

While most might have dismissed Apple TV as a streaming service in an age where the streaming service has been ruled over by big players like Netflix and Hulu, there are tons of gems in Apple’s library that you’ve probably already heard about. Mythic Quest and Dickinson are some of the better-known shows on Apple TV, and you’ve likely heard of the soccer comedy Ted Lasso.

Season 3 has come to a close, offering viewers plenty of closure for every character on the show. Still, even if we might not get to spent anymore time with AFC Richmond, it’s still fun to look back on the cast and think on what about them appeals to us the most. The main cast of characters is incredibly fun and diverse, all packed with unique personalities that complement each other and even serve as foils to one another.

First there was Magik. Then there was Negative. After that, we had Leader and Leech, followed by Aero. And for a spell there, Thanos and Shuri also took the spotlight. Throughout all of this, though, Galactus has somehow remained untouched since the introduction of the Token Shop, and that archetype has been so polarizing among the Marvel Snap player base that Second Dinner has finally decided to do something about it.

In this week’s major patch, we’re getting Conquest Mode, Weekend Missions, along with a few store updates. We’re also getting big balance changes to Galactus, who’s finally getting a much-needed nerf to circumvent the polarizing and, honestly, emotionally damaging play style of destroying all other locations to force you into a single lane.

Metaphor: ReFantazio is a brand new fantasy RPG from Atlus. Specifically, it’s a new RPG being headed up by director Katsura Hashino, character designer Shigenori Soejima, and composer Shoji Meguro, all Persona and Shin Megami Tensei veterans. From the brief footage we’ve seen so far, the game looks like a culmination of all the lessons the team has learned from their two tentpole series over the past decade, and there’s a lot to be excited about. So let’s take a deep dive into the trailer itself, and discuss a few details you probably missed in the Metaphor: ReFantazio trailer.

There’s a Calendar System

My first impression of Metaphor: ReFantazio was that it was going to be the closest thing to a Persona game that Shin Megami Tensei fans would finally enjoy, and it’s clear that Atlus is planning on incorporating a lot of Persona-isms into this one, including a calendar system. In the trailer, we got a glimpse of the protagonist running through the open-world, and at the side of the screen, we see the day, time, and temperature.

It’s been a big week for Persona and Atlus fans. The studio announced a brand new game in Metaphor: ReFantazio, a new Persona 5-based tactics game, and finally, a proper remake of Persona 3. Titled Persona 3 Reload, the short announcement trailer showed off improved character models and visuals, and it’s definitely going to be exciting finally returning to Iwatodai in full HD glory. That said, here are three features and improvements we’d love to see in Persona 3 Reload.

Improved Dungeons

For the love of all that is good and holy, please let there be some sort of improvement to the way the dungeons are handled in Persona 3 Reload. If you’ve ever played any iteration of Persona 3, you’ll know that Tartarus –the main tower dungeon of the game– is an awful slog.

I guess we’ll start with a bit of a history lesson. Before Persona, there was Shin Megami Tensei, an offshoot of the Megami Tensei series that dealt with teenagers in modern Japan who were usually faced with cataclysmic events that threatened to tear apart the entire world. Persona originated as an offshoot of SMT, and the first two games still leaned heavily into the darker tones of SMT, but with Persona 3, everything changed.

All of a sudden, the Persona series had become synonymous with school life and dating sims, strong character-driven stories, and never-ending debates about who the best waifu was. Persona 3 started that trend, Persona 4 solidified it, and with the release of Persona 5, it’s become abundantly clear that Atlus knows they’ve got something good here and they’re gonna keep rolling with it.

E3 may be dead, but video games will live on forever. This year’s Xbox Games Showcase certainly did not disappoint, as we were treated to a whole host of exciting trailers and new game announcements. Here are the best and biggest announcements from Xbox Games Showcase 2023.

Fable

The Fable reboot was announced back in 2020, but we’re finally getting our first look at the brand new entry. The trailer itself still doesn’t give us much info about its gameplay elements or story, but you can’t deny the charm of British actor Richard Ayoade, who does a great job of showing us the world and all of its fantastical elements.

We’re finally getting even more new competitive modes in Marvel Snap. Conquest Mode was announced a while back, and the team at Second Dinner finally has a firm release date for it. The new mode will go live in the game on June 13, and you can check out the announcement video made in collaboration with YouTuber ProZD down below:

This is a single-loss, elimination style tournament mode that’s meant only for the most hardcore players. Everyone will be able to participate in the Proving Grounds for free, where they can win a Silver Ticket. This will get them into Silver Quest, where they can win a Gold Ticket, which will get them into Gold Conquest. Finally, winning in Gold Conquest will give them an Infinite Ticket.

Oxenfree II: Lost Signals is easily one of our most highly anticipated indie video game releases of the year, especially considering what a major surprise hit its predecessor was all those years ago. Night School Studio has just dropped a new video going over the art, mood, and aesthetic of the game, which you can check out for yourself down below:

The 3-minute video features members of the development team going over their inspirations that went into creating the look of the game, as well as how they came up with the vibe and the ways they’re enhancing the moody tones of Oxenfree. Much like the original game, the dialogue system in Lost Signals will still be seamless and unfold in real-time, forcing players to react quickly.
